A local residency program
Misk Art Institute’s second iteration of the Masaha Residency invites both Saudi and international practitioners across creative disciplines to investigate perspectives around the theme of "HOME": Being and Belonging.
The Fall 2021 cycle will focus on bringing together emerging and mid-career creatives, hosting ten artists and one writer for a three-month period of discourse, research, and experimentation at Prince Faisal bin Fahd Arts Hall in Riyadh.
The theme of this second edition, "HOME": Being and Belonging, will examine a series of questions about heritage, culture, nostalgia, and identity, exploring a sense of belonging and how this persists, changes, and transforms through time. Prompting the question, how can culture contribute to the development of artistic practices and offer possibilities to shift the conversation into other dimensions like subjectivity, imagination, nostalgic perception, or spirituality?
