This month-long micro-residency invites eight emerging artists to develop and produce a limited-edition artist book utilizing screen printing equipment at Misk Art Institute’s silkscreen printing studio in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. 


Residents will be provided with time, space, tools, and screen printing and bookbinding expertise throughout their journey. Graphic designers will be available to assist residents with design layouts based on artworks they have already produced alongside written entries.

The applicants must also be fully committed to prioritizing this one-month program, with no exceptions.


Who is it for? 

Full-time visual artists from Saudi Arabia or the Gulf Region who meet one or more of the following:


  1. 3+ years of experience in fine arts
  2. 3+ years of exhibiting history
  3. Has an existing body of work with research and documentation
  4. Familiar with Adobe programs, InDesign, and photoshop

What is the Silkscreen Lab?


A specialized screen-printing studio located at the basement level of Prince Faisal bin Fahd Arts Hall dubbed “Masaha.” The lab is outfitted with the latest screen-printing equipment, tools, and materials. It is open to artists who wish to learn or experiment through Misk Art Institute’s ongoing programing including specialized masterclasses, workshops, and residency programs.
