The Masaha Residency program is at the intersection of artistic development and production, going beyond ad hoc support with a special focus on research and experimentation. By hosting creatives— artists, curators, and writers—from different backgrounds, the Masaha Residency is a safe space that encourages cross-cultural collaboration, allowing residents to take an active role in their growth by offering access to funding, mentorship, masterclasses, workshops, studio spaces, and exposure to audiences through a showcase and publication. 

It is our desire to see the growth of our residents extend beyond the walls of Masaha by aiding them in creating a sustainable network that will propel their careers and elevate the arts. Within the pages of this first of many publications, you are granted access to the often-enigmatic aspects of what goes on behind studio doors.

Blurring Lines: Art and the Creative Industries 

Blurring Lines: Art and Creative Industries invited visual artists to develop their practice through the lens of alternative disciplines by exploring, interrogating, and enhancing the relationship between fine art and creative industries. Why is there a distinction between fine and applied art? What is special about an artistic gesture? When does a work of architecture, design, film, music, fashion, food, or even medicine become “art”? And how can artists, creatives, and industries work together, rather than separately?
