Images consume our daily lives, it’s essential to decipher between taking a photo and being visually literate. Learn about the different ways of seeing and storytelling through film.
In this session, artist-in-resident Abeer Sultan will take participants on an investigation of what it means to be visually literate. Participants will also learn about the mechanical production of the moving images by tracing the evolution of the camera as a mechanism and how it affects how we see and consume photographs.
This workshop will also cover the history of photography as an artistic medium and its place in the art world and will conclude with a fun DIY session that will apply theoretical concepts into a literal practice using archival materials.
This workshop is part of the Masaha Residency Showcase programming.
