Saudi Arabia’s art scene is experiencing a dynamic transformation, with pioneering artists playing a crucial role in shaping its visual identity. As part of our commitment to preserving and celebrating this artistic legacy, Misk Art Institute presents the second edition of the Solo Series—a dedicated platform honoring influential Saudi artists and their contributions.

This year’s Solo Series spotlights Khaleel Hassan Khaleel and Dr. Mohammed Alresayes, two pioneering figures whose work has left a lasting impact on Saudi visual culture. Through their distinct artistic languages, both artists explore themes of heritage, identity, and creative expression, offering a deeper understanding of Saudi Arabia’s evolving art landscape.

Dr. Mohammed Alresayes’s exhibition, Between Forms, presents his distinctive flattened visual style that captures the essence of Saudi architecture and cultural traditions. Through his abstracted depictions of Najdi architecture, geometric motifs, and local heritage, Dr. Alresayes bridges the past with the present, offering a deeply personal yet universally resonant perspective on the built environment and its role in shaping identity.

In The Whisper of Dreams, Khaleel Hassan Khaleel’s dreamlike compositions reveal a rich tapestry of symbolism, surrealism, and local cultural elements. His art, rooted in personal memory and collective history, reimagines themes of identity and human heritage through his self-defined artistic philosophy, “Dreamism.”

Each exhibition invites visitors to explore how these influential artists have transformed Saudi visual artistic identity—preserving tradition while pushing the boundaries of artistic expression.
