About the artist

(B. 1983, Adelaide, Australia)

Tara O’Conal is an emerging new media artist and acting member of the Artist Film Workshop in Australia, working with filmmakers and artists using analog film techniques. Between 2014 and 2019, she completed a BS and a master’s in Fine Arts from the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne, Australia.

O’Conal documents her sense of the world, moments of beauty, and emotional experiences. While her work can be viewed as autobiographical, she sees it as a documentation of the human condition. Since 2019, she has exhibited her work in galleries and artist-run spaces in Australia and internationally.

In 2022, O’Conal pursued a residency at the Misk Art Institute. Keen on documenting and archiving, she hopes to turn her works into longer films with more elaborative narratives.
