About the artist

(B. 1997. Based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia)

Mbarak Madhi is a Yemeni-Indonesian self-taught artist, who works across several mediums and disciplines, including graphic design, motion graphics, photography, and videography, and tackles themes such as identity and social issues. His work is transparent and has a playful and youthful feel. He works at ES’ROUTE, a luxury fashion platform, as a creative director.   

His artistic work includes mainly street photography and videos following the themes of heritage, identity, and youth life. In 2016, Madhi won first place in the video category in a Saudi Heritage Preservation Society competition documenting Saudi heritage.

In 2022, Madhi applied for the Misk Art Institute residency to focus on his family’s mixed heritage.
