(B. 1988, Al Ahsa, Saudi Arabia)

Hussain Alismail is a multidisciplinary artist whose work deals with the theme of identity and social interaction and discourses. He did his BFA in drawing and painting at OCAD University in Toronto, Canada, in 2018, and BCA in visual effects and entertainment design at Flinders University in Adelaide, Australia, in 2021. 

An attendee of art residencies, in 2021, Alismail joined sponsored studio residency, The Mill, in Adelaide, Australia, where he also had his third solo show,  In Search of a Good Laugh. The exhibition contained several projects, including Visible Invisible, a series of photographs of Australian artists with disabilities,  Blend In, a collection of images and videos around Saudi identity within a western context, and a group of paintings and drawings. 

In 2020, he joined the  Albalad  residency in Jeddah, organized by the Saudi Ministry of Culture. Alismail has also participated in several competitions, including Alkassbi International Award II (2015) and MCY by Edge of Arabia (2011). 

In 2022, Alismail pursued a residency at the Misk Art Institute, where he focused on photogrammetry, VFX, and 3D modeling to understand Riyadh’s societal and architectural evolutions within the past few years.
