Turn Sound into Vision

This immersive 5-day masterclass explores the intersection of visual art and sound, designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to create dynamic video experiences that enhance live performances.  


Participants will delve into the conceptualization of visuals for sound, craft visual narratives, use technical tools, and enhance synchronization and timing. 


Through a blend of theory, hands-on technical exercises, and live performance techniques, participants will transition from interpreting sounds into visuals to creating their own visual sequences for a piece of music/sound of their choice. 

 

Course overview:  

In this masterclass, participants will explore: 

  1. Conceptualizing visuals for sound 
  2. Crafting visual narratives that enhance music 
  3. Using technical tools and software (e.g., Resolume Arena) 
  4. Synchronizing visuals with sound for live performances 
  5. Collaborating with artists and understanding the live performance context 


Who’s it for? 

Visual artists, aspiring VJ’s, musicians, and sound designers who have basic knowledge of Resolume Arena. 

 

Material requirements: 

Windows laptop with minimum specifications: 

  1. OS: Windows 10 (64-bit) 
  2. Processor: Intel Core i5 or AMD Ryzen 5 (at least 2.5 GHz) 
  3. RAM: 8 GB 
  4. Graphics: Dedicated GPU with 2 GB VRAM (such as NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 or AMD Radeon RX 560) 
  5. Storage: 256 GB SSD (preferred) 
  6. Ports: USB 3.0 for external controllers, HDMI for external screens/projectors 

 

Mac laptop with minimum specifications: 

  1. OS: macOS 10.13 or later 
  2. Processor: Intel Core i5 (or Apple M1 chip, if newer) 
  3. RAM: 8 GB 
  4. Graphics: Integrated Intel Iris Plus for older models (or Apple M1 GPU) 
  5. Storage: 256 GB SSD 
  6. Ports: USB-C, HDMI for external screens/projectors
