This internship is done in partnership with MAXXI Museum.
This 10-week internship places the intern within the MAXXI Curatorial Office in Rome, where they engage in the research, interpretation, and development of exhibitions and curatorial projects.
Working alongside curators, the intern contributes to the conceptual and contextual framework of exhibitions, strengthening their ability to think critically, write effectively, and shape narratives within a contemporary art and architecture context.

Emerging professionals with a background in contemporary art, architecture, curatorial studies, or related fields who are interested in curatorial research and exhibition-making.
Participant requirements
• At least one year of experience in curatorial work
• Strong interest in curatorial research and exhibition development
• Knowledge of contemporary art and architectural practices
• Familiarity with museum environments including collections, archives, and exhibitions
• Ability to conduct research and critically engage with artworks, texts, and projects
• Good writing skills for curatorial texts and supporting materials
• Experience with archival research, databases, and digital documentation
• Basic proficiency in Office tools and content management systems
• Ability to collaborate effectively and communicate within multidisciplinary teams

About the tutor
Chiara Castiglia
Chiara Castiglia holds a degree in Cultural Heritage and Activities with a focus on archaeology from the University of Perugia and has conducted research in Italy and abroad, including excavations in Jordan. In 2017, she completed a master's degree in economics and management of art and Cultural Heritage at the Business School of Il Sole 24 ORE in Rome and now collaborates with MAXXI Architecture across curatorial assistance, research, and exhibition coordination.
