In collaboration with A plus A Gallery in Venice, Misk Art Institute offers one Saudi art professional a two-month internship opportunity to develop skills in gallery management, connect with international experts, and engage with the flourishing art scene of Venice, Italy.

This program covers:

  • This internship will upskill the participant in the areas of 

  • Exhibition making

  • Stakeholder management 

  • Sales and art handling 

  • Artist development

  • Professional communication with collectors, artists, and curators

You will gain:

  • Professional experience in a functioning commercial gallery in Venice, Italy

  • Building a network of artists and art professionals 

  • New skills in gallery management 

  • Hard skills in art handling and exhibition making

Roles and responsibilities of the intern

Perform the following for two months:

  • Occupy the position of an assistant gallery manager (The gallery manager is responsible for managing a commercial gallery in Venice)  
  • Manage time and output
  • Manage and promote the gallery
  • Represent the gallery as an employee during work hours and public events

Gallery working hours

The intern must commit to the Gallery work schedule (Tuesday to Saturday, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.)

About A plus A Gallery

A plus A is a gallery has been the official venue for the Slovenian pavilion at the Venice Biennale from 1998 till 2014. During this period, the gallery functioned throughout the year as a public gallery and not only as a national pavilion. 

A plus A is a gallery dedicated to experimenting with new exhibition formats and promoting artists in the production of art exhibitions and projects. Since 2004, the gallery has welcomed students from around the world to participate in the Course in Curatorial Practices and Contemporary Arts.

What is expected from applicants

  • Provide correct information and documentation of their work experience

  • Full commitment to the two-month program with no exceptions (from August 26 - October 19, 2023.)
