In this intensive five-day masterclass, writers delve into exploratory forms of art writing. 

Topics Covered 

  • On a macro-level, the masterclass will:

  • Explore how art criticism acts as a domain that furthers the significance of a singular artwork or exhibition

  • Deliver insights into ongoing trends and movements in Art and visual culture in the Arab World 

  • Teach how critics utilize certain writing strategies 

  • Examine the methods and techniques used to develop art narratives

This masterclass aims to develop a good sense of a writer’s interests, voice, and technique. Led by senior curator Dr. Bahaa Abudaya, writers will experiment with writing art criticism in Arabic and examine texts, objects, and narratives.
