Misk Art Institute presents a one-of-a-kind, five-day masterclass led by cultural commentator Myrna Ayad. Ideal for those interested in understanding the importance of art writing within the art world and enhancing one’s knowledge about style, impact, language, and tone.
This masterclass will allow participants to develop skills and understand varied forms of art writing, their dynamics, and functions. Through select assignments, a curator-led tour of an exhibition, an interview with an artist and in-session group discussions over a period of five days, participants will gain insights and be supported in cultivating a deeper grasp on the art of art writing.
Developing style, language, Impact, and tone
Knowing the different styles and approaches to art writing
Knowledge how to interview, review, and critique
Understanding of different media –(ArtForum, The Art Newspaper, eFlux, etc.)
The masterclass will raise two though provoking questions:
Does an exhibition review a critique?
Does an artist deserve a profile?
Writers and aspiring writers, arts practitioners, and gallerists.
