Misk Art Institute calls for six photographers to spend four weeks at the Masaha studios (Prince Faisal bin Fahd Arts Hall), to think conceptually about tradition through the themes of
Archiving
Documenting
Safeguarding
This residency focuses on the theoretical and practical aspects of photography. Residents are provided with a wide range of educational programing, a private studio space, and research and production resources. The residency also offers participants a crash-course in conceptual development, experimentation, and actual production.
Workshops and masterclasses
Mentorship sessions
Development of project proposals
Networking sessions via studio visits by veteran artists and art practitioners
Group presentation/critique session
A chance to work in a shared environment
An original series of no less than five new photos that engage with the theme of tradition.
Who’s it for?
Full-time Saudi photographers who meet one or more of the following criteria:
2+ years of photography experience
2+ years of photography educational background
1+ years of exhibiting history
Actively practicing and engaging in photography
Applicants must have a strong grasp of the fundamentals of photography and demonstrate a personal dedication to the craft of photography. The Institute is looking for photographer who have led their own artistic photographic shoots, have a growing body of work, and understand the various aspects of photography beyond an intermediate level.
