Useful Information

In collaboration with Ramses Wissa Wassef, the micro-residency is a unique space comprised of workshops and showrooms; a pottery and sculpture museum; houses and farm buildings, constructed entirely of mud brick. The vaulted and domed mud brick structures represent something quintessentially Egyptian as these forms weren adopted in turn by Paranoiac, Coptic, and Islamic civilizations. The choice of this traditional technology also reflects the founder Wissa Wassef’s desire to transmit the values of handicraft to succeeding generations in a rapidly industrializing country and region.
