Zoulikha Bouabdellah is a French-Algerian artist that work with installation, drawing, video and photography. Through her work, the artist attempts to deal with the effects of globalization and question their depictions with humor and subversion. Since 2007, Bouabdellah’s works focus on letters and words of love, and particularly on the status of women. Her most recent exhibitions include The Divine Comedy: Heaven, Purgatory and Hell Revisited by Contemporary African Artists, National Museum of African Art, USA (2015); the Museum für Moderne Kunst Frankfurt am Main, Germany; the Savannah College of Art and Design Museum, Savannah, USA; Lucy’s Iris, MUSAC, Spain (2016); Rochechouart Museum, France; and CAAM Centro Atlantico de Arte Moderno, Spain. She is represented in collections such as Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, France, MUSAC Museum of Contemporary Art in León, Spain and Mathaf Arab Museum of Modern Art in Doha, Qatar. Also, Bouabdellah has received awards and distinctions which includes the Abraaj Art Prize in 2009, and the Meurice Prize for Contemporary Art in 2008.
