Writing for the Art World will be provided in two concurrent classes, one held in Arabic and another in English.

  • Writing for the Art World (Arabic) - led by journalist Abeer Mishkhas.

  • Writing for the Art World (English) - led by art historian, curator and journalist Viv Lawes.

This is a course for aspiring writers who wish to specialize in the arts.

Over the five engaging days of in-person classes at Prince Faisal bin Fahd Arts Hall in Riyadh, you will be introduced to the art ecosystem and the related range of writing styles needed to enter the discourse of this diverse and fascinating cultural sector. From the arts pages in general interest newspapers to business publications, press releases and academic catalogues, the course will offer insights and practical advice from specialists currently working in the field.

This course would offer a practical guide on how to develop your own skills as a writer for the art world. Students will learn how to develop their own critical writing and explore current and emerging opportunities for getting work published – as well as gaining practical advice on how to get ahead and making sure that they are giving editors (and readers) what they want and need.
