Misk Art Institute calls for six photographers to spend four weeks at the Masaha studios (Prince Faisal bin Fahd Arts Hall), to think conceptually about tradition through the themes of

  • Archiving 

  • Documenting 

  • Safeguarding 

This residency focuses on the theoretical and practical aspects of photography. Residents are provided with a wide range of educational programing, a private studio space, and research and production resources. The residency also offers participants a crash-course in conceptual development, experimentation, and actual production.

The Residency Offers

  • Workshops and masterclasses

  • Mentorship sessions

  • Development of project proposals

  • Networking sessions via studio visits by veteran artists and art practitioners

  • Group presentation/critique session

  • A chance to work in a shared environment 

Outcomes

An original series of no less than five new photos that engage with the theme of tradition. 

Who’s it for?

Full-time Saudi photographers who meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • 2+ years of photography experience

  • 2+ years of photography educational background

  • 1+ years of exhibiting history

  • Actively practicing and engaging in photography

Applicants must have a strong grasp of the fundamentals of photography and demonstrate a personal dedication to the craft of photography. The Institute is looking for photographer who have led their own artistic photographic shoots, have a growing body of work, and understand the various aspects of photography beyond an intermediate level.
