This four-day masterclass will teach participants how to create patterns to print on fabric by utilizing screen-printing tech¬niques. 

Topics covered include:

• Overview of the stages of production from visual research to color treat¬ment to pattern creation

• Designing patterns 

• Practical exercises

Required materials: Laptop or iPad with either Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or Procreate.

Course Structure:

This workshop will take place over four days 

Day One (Theory)

• Introduction to fine art textiles 

• Designing for print 

• Exploring different ways of designing repeating patterns

• Developing patterns digitally

• Visual re¬search 

Day Two (Design)

• Developing repeated patterns digi¬tally 

• Designing two color patterns

Day Three (Preparation)

• Silkscreen prepa¬ration: coating the screen 

• Exposing screens and washing 

• Ink mixing 

Day Four (Printing)

• Printing
